Raipur : Industries Minister invites food processing investors to Chhattisgarh at World Food India - 2017

 Chhattisgarh being Partner State in World Food India

 State Session was jointly organised by Ministry of Food Processing Industries and CII to invite investors in food processing sector.

 Post seminar, the State delegation had one to one meetings with 10 different companies to discuss their future plan of investment and possibilities in Chhattisgarh.

During the Mega Food Event “World Food India 2017’’, a State session for Chhattisgarh has been conducted at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 4th November 2917. A senior delegation from Government of Chhattisgarh led by Shri Amar Agrawal, Minister, Commerce & Industries, Government of Chhattisgarh, along with Dr. Kamal Preet Singh, Special Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industries, Shri Chagan Lal Mundra, Chairman, CSIDC, Shri Yashwant Kumar, Joint Secretary, Commerce and Industries, Smt. Alarmelmangai D, Director, Industries, and Shri Sunil Mishra, MD CSIDC addressed the session.

The session was initiated with address by Dr. Kamalpreet Singh. During his speech, he emphasized the strategic advantages Chhattisgarh possesses along with its infrastructure benefits, and raw material availability which would give the investors an edge over others. He mentioned that Chhattisgarh is one of the fastest growing states in India. With abundant availability of mineral reserves, the state has high growth thrust in the core sector industries such as iron, steel, cement and thermal power. He also poised the opportunity to become a central logistic hub considering its locational advantage as well as from the standpoint of accessibility to vast consumer markets in the neighbourhood.  Post his address, Shri Sunil Mishra, MD CSIDC displayed an audio visual presentation, highlighting its core strength, and existing as well as upcoming infrastructure facilities, which was well applauded by the Attendees. Further, a few delegates from the food processing industry in Chhattisgarh shared their experience in working with Chhattisgarh Government. Shri Brijesh Thakkar, Investment Head, Sarda Group explained how the State Government facilitates the industries to expand and grow into diversified sectors. Sarda Group has existence of over 9 decades in the State.

Ms. Richa Shaha, Director, C G Soya Product Private Limited, presented her company profile. She also highlighted how the government of Chhattisgarh is proactive towards industry facilitation. She emphasized the PPP model which was very successful in Chhattisgarh.  Dr. S K Mishra, CEO, Indus Best Mega Food Park appreciated the effort of State Government and its proactive policies. He featured Chhattisgarh as the best suited state in terms of climate, soil, infrastructure, public, and Government, and appeals others to experience the same. Shri Amar Agrawal, Industries Minister addressed the podium with praising the perpetual effort of our Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji to drive our Country towards developed segment. He also congratulated Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Minister of FPI for the successful organization of the mega event which created a global platform for the investors as well as farmers.

During his speech, he also stated that the State is continuously thriving towards development of the farmers, and the state has received  National Award- 'Krishi Karman Award' for highest productivity of rice during the year 2010-11, 2012-2013 ,2013-2014 and most importantly, award for highest productivity of pulses during the year 2014-2015. So, the State is diversifying its crops.

The Minister also expressed that a few people have certain reservations towards the state due to Naxalites. However, Shri Amar Agrawal clearly clarified with conviction that it is a wrong notion in the people’s mind and the Government’s combative approach has almost eradicated naxalism. Adding to this, he has also stated that the Bhilai Steel Plant has been running since 61 Years, and not a single day the plant is shut down due to any sort of strike or movement. In his closing words, the Minister invites the delegates and investors to the State for a prospective alliance and further investment in to food processing sector.

Shri Agrawal along with State Government officials also had one to one meetings with topnotch corporates from food processing sector and business delegations at the venue throughout the day. Shri Agrawal met with Shri R S Sodhi, Managing Director, Amul; Ms. Richa Sharma, Managing Director, Chr. Hansen; Shri Niladri Deb, Managing Director, Kraft Heinz; Shri Salah Ibrahim Sharaf, Executive Director, Sharaf Group from UAE; Shri Shyam Kapoor, Vice President, Sharaf Group; Shri Abdul Salam, Director General, UAE – India Business Council (UIBC); Capt. Ashwani Nayar, Senior Vice President, Hind Terminals; Rear Admiral Anand Kalaskar (Retd), CEO, Hind Terminals; Shri Sanjay Malpani, CEO – Food Parks, Future Consumer; Shri Girish Minocha, Director, Minchy’s; Shri Manish Kumar Sahu, Chairman, Panchakanya Group; Shri Prateek Chitlangia, GM, Prateek Agro Exports (P) Ltd. and discussed their plans for setting up their units in Chhattisgarh. The Government Delegates individually invited the investors for an official visit to the State and further discussion. The investors after meeting the State delegation were very delighted about the State’s aggressive approach and are positive for prospective future collaboration.
