Chhattisgarh Government has begun to implement Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's 'Sahaj Bijli-Har Ghar Yojana' (Saubhagya Yojana). Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh has announced the target of electrifying nearly six lakh households of seven thousand majra-tola in 465 villages by September 2018, i.e. in next 10 months, under this scheme. As this target is achieved, Chhattisgarh will achieve its target of 100% electrification in state. Presently the electrification status of state is nearly 98.67 per cent.
Chief Secretary Mr. Vivek Dhand has written letter to district collectors of all 27 districts of state to ensure implementation of under Saubhagya Yojana. In the letter, he has directed the Collectors to organize Saubhagya Yojana camps in villages for collecting applications to provide electricity supply to each and every household. This work will be done through CSPDCL. Mr. Dhand has stated in the letter that Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana has been launched to provide easy access to electricity supply to the poor families in rural and urban areas.
Chief Secretary has given instructions to district collectors to continuously monitor the scheme and ensure participation of public representatives. Mr. Dhand stated in the letter that after electricity connections are provided to each and every household of the villages under Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana, 'bijli tihaar' will be organized on the lines of ODF utsav of Swachch Bharat Mission. In addition, felicitation programmes will be organize to honour the electrified village, electrified gram panchayat, electrified development blocks and electrified districts with certificates. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh had announced in the 27th episode of Raman Ke Goth programme aired from Akashwani Raipur that 'Bijli Tihaar' will be celebrated in the villages with 100% electrification.
Chief Secretary Mr. Dhand has stated in the letter sent to District Collectors that in the Bijli Tihaar to be organized, those individuals and public representatives of the electrified villages will be felicitated, whose participation has played important role in 100% electrification of the village. Beneficiaries will also be provided connection certificates. Mr. Dhand stated in the letter to District Collectors that- through these programmes, mass awareness regarding energy saving and its benefits will be spread. For this, common people will be informed about rooftop scheme, drinking water scheme, Saur Sujala Yojana, solar high-mast lamp and LED bulbs. Electricity Companies in state are also doing the infrastructural development works in state.
Chief Secretary further states that on the occasion of Bijli Tihaar programme, bhumipujan and inauguration programme for power substation construction, line extension, new transformers establishment etc related works will also be held. As per the desire of Prime Minister, Uday Yojana has also been launched keeping in view the target of electrification. Under this scheme, each citizen on the country will be provided electricity supply, billing and collection capacity will be expanded, use of energy efficient fans and LED bulbs will be encouraged, prevention of line loss and promoting the use solar energy will be ensured.
